Q60 WALK-IN FUNCTION
What it does
The walk-in feature moves the front seat to make it easier to get into and out of the rear seat.
How to operate it
1. Open the driver or passenger door.
2. The seat belt must be unfastened.
3. If the sun visor is used, close it to the original stowed position before operating the walk-in feature to prevent possible interference.
4. Pull the seatback lever upward. The seatback tilts forward slightly.
5. Push the seatback switch on the top of the seat to slide the seat forward.
- Passenger seat: For vehicles with electrical tilt and telescopic steering wheel, the rear of the seat cushion moves down when the seat slides forward.
- Driver seat: For vehicles with ADP, the rear of the seat cushion moves down when the seat slides forward.
6. To return the front seat to its original position, pull the top of the seat toward the rear of the vehicle and push the seatback switch again.
- To stop the seat from sliding, push the seatback switch again or operate the seat sliding/lifter switches.
- The seat will move backward to its original position; but, for the passenger seat, the maximum backward movement is 6.5 in (165.8 mm) from its front-most position to retain space for the rear passenger.
- For vehicles with electrical tilt and telescopic steering wheel, the rear side of the passenger seat cushion moves back up to its original position when the seat slides back to where it was before the walkin function slid the seat forward.
- For vehicles with ADP, the rear side of the driver seat cushion moves back up to its original position when the seat slides back to where it was before the walk-in function slid the seat forward.
NOTE: If you use the seat slide switch to move the seat, the walk-in function does not move the seat back. Depending on the seat position, the head restraint may contact the roof headlining during the walk-in operation. To prevent possible interference, lower the seat using the seat lifter switch.
The automatic forwarding and reversing will not work, or stop under the following conditions:
- Tilting the seatback during the forward operation.
- If the seatback switch is pushed again, while the seat is moving.
- If any seat position adjustment switch is operated.
- When the seat belt is fastened.
- If the vehicle is moving (driver side only).
- Driver seat and passenger seat are controlled by different seat control units
- Driver seat control unit receives a VSS
- Passenger seat control unit does not get a vehicle speed signal
- When the shift lever is not in the Park position (driver side only).
- Driver seat control unit receives CAN communication
- Passenger seat control unit does not get CAN signals
Automatic forwarding and reversing will not work, or stop, under the following conditions.
- If the door is closed (automatic forwarding only).
- When the door is closed, no one will be attempting to enter the rear seat so automatic forwarding is not necessary.
- While the automatic drive positioner (if so equipped) operates or the switches are pressed.
- When the ADP is operating or about to operate, the seats will move to the memory setting, which takes priority over the walk-in function.
When returning the seat to its original position, confirm the seat and seatback are locked properly. After adjustment, gently rock in the seat to make sure it is securely locked.
Initialization Procedure
After disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, the seat must be initialized before the walk-in function will operate.
To initialize:
1. Make sure there is nothing in front of the front seat.
2. Make sure the seat is not fully forward.
3. If it is already fully forward, slide the seat backward a few inches using the slide switch.
4. Pull the seatback lever upward to unlatch the seatback.
5. Tilt the seatback completely forward.
6. Push the seatback switch and allow the seat to move without interruption until it stops on its own in the forward position.
7. The walk-in function is now initialized.
