MA210 FRONT FINAL DRIVE OIL CHECK PROCEDURE
The Titan light duty truck uses the MA210 front final drive. It is very important to NEVER over fill the final drive with oil. The oil level check procedure for this front final drive is different than other differentials.
Checking the correct level in this differential first requires you to make a gauge from a stiff wire. Clothes hanger wire works very well. At a minimum, you will need a stiff wire 5.9 in (150 mm) long.
1. Cut a piece of stiff wire so that it is at least 5.9 in (150 mm) long.
2. Bend the wire into a circle on one end to use as the dipstick handle. Approximately an inch diameter works well.
3. On the opposite end of the wire, make a mark 1.8 in (45 mm) from the end.
4. Use that mark as a guide and bend the wire 90° at that precise spot.
5. Now, you need to make two marks on the wire. Use a permanent marker or make a notch.
6. Now, the gauge is ready for use.
CHECKING THE OIL LEVEL
1. Remove the filler plug and gasket.
2. Put the marked end of the dipstick gauge into the front final drive.
DO NOT drop the dipstick gauge into the front final drive.
3. Rest the gauge on the filler plug hole as shown in the illustration.
4. Remove the gauge and check the oil level. If the oil level is between the marks, then it is correct.
NOTE: The full oil level is BELOW the filler plug hole.
5. If the oil is not between the marks, adjust the oil level and recheck with the dipstick gauge.
NOTE: Use Genuine NISSAN Differential Oil Hypoid Super-CT Synthetic GL-5 75W-90.
For a complete refill, the approximate capacity is 2-5/8 US pt (1.25 liter, 2-1/4 lmp pt).
Do NOT reuse gasket.
6. Install a gasket on the oil filler plug and install it to the front final drive assembly.
7. Torque the filler plug to the specified torque, 24 ft-lb (32.5 Nm, 3.3 kg-m).
