ON THE COVER
The all-new 2012 Nissan Versa Sedan breaks new ground for entry-level compact sedans. Nissan’s design and engineering teams combined five-passenger practicality with a high degree of comfort and refinement into the new Versa. Its powertrain combines a second-generation 1.6-liter HR16DE 4-cylinder engine enhanced with a range of cutting-edge technologies. This compact, lighter weight engine utilizes a new dual fuel injector system, and a twin Continuously Variable Timing Control (CVTCS) system mounted on both the intake and exhaust valves. The 2012 Versa is available with a 5-speed manual transmission (on 1.6 S models only), and comes standard with the next-generation Xtronic CVT™ transmission. The new CVT for the Versa utilizes an additional auxiliary gearbox to provide planetary gearing that helps improve efficiency. Its interior design and storage is roomier and offers an unexpected level of available entertainment and connectivity features for a compact sedan.
