Broadcast radio has gone through significant evolutionary changes since its inception. Among the many changes is the addition of frequencies like FM to the original AM band. Currently, along with the adoption of pay subscriptions like SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, the AM and FM frequencies have a new technology to expand listeners’ choices, HD Radio® . HD Radio® provides expanded options beyond that of standard analog AM or FM and is featured in some Nissan/Infiniti vehicles.
FEATURES:
1 – TAG Indicator – The TAG indicator is displayed if the iTunes® Tagging information is available for a song on the HD broadcast being received.
2 – HD Station Indicator – HD Stations can support additional channels
3 – HD Radio Indicator
NISSAN/INFINITI MODELS THAT HAVE HD RADIO®
• 2014 and 2015 Infiniti Q50™
• 2015 Nissan Murano® (Standard, Optional S level)
• 2016 Nissan Maxima®
TECHNOLOGY AND BENEFITS:
• Added content on each frequency – Up to four unique options are available – HD1, HD2, HD3, HD4 – all with unique content on AM and FM bands. Each HD channel can support added content programming on that channel number, i.e., 96.3 HD1, 96.3 HD2, 96.3 HD3 and 96.3 HD4. This can be additional music choices or special programming, like live sporting events.
• Digital-quality sound – Minimizing interference, distortion and background noise to provide the best possible listening experience is the goal of HD Radio®.
• Artist or event information – Similar to the Radio Data System (RDS) in conventional FM radio broadcasts, artist, song title and album title are displayed under the FM/AM Menu/HD Radio Info.
• No subscription needed – If your vehicle is equipped with HD Radio®, make sure HD Radio Mode is turned ON.
OPERATION AND RECEPTION:
HD Radio Mode must be turned ON
• With HD Radio Mode turned ON, an HD Radio Icon will display.
• Your radio will receive digital broadcasts (where available), providing a better quality sound with clear reception. When this feature is turned OFF or HD Radio® broadcasts are not available, you will receive analog radio AM and FM broadcasts.
HD Radio® tuning performance/blending with standard signal
• Delay in digital audio on HD Radio® broadcasts is normal. The radio acquires an analog station first and blends it with a digital signal.
• When using HD Radio®, the volume may occasionally change up or down or the sound may fade in and out. This indicates the radio station is aligning the digital and analog audio levels.
• Various broadcast or signal reception issues may affect HD Radio® digital signals. Verify the correct operation of HD Radio® by tuning to another HD station.
• Ballgame Mode: When a sporting event is being broadcasted live on an HD Radio® signal, the system will automatically function in Ballgame Mode and “Live” will be displayed on the audio screen.
If the “TAG” indicator is being displayed and “TAG” is selected under the AM/FM Menu, the following will occur:
Tagging a song
• Touch TAG under Menu to select the Tagging information (if available) in the HD broadcast being received.
• If an iPod® is connected to the system, the tagged song will be sent immediately to the iPod® and a message will display indicating that it has been sent.
Tagged song "successfully stored"
• If an iPod® is not connected to the system, the tagged song will be stored and a message will display indicating that it has been stored.
• Up to 50 tagged songs can be stored.
• If tagged songs are stored, they will immediately transfer to the iPod® when the iPod® is connected, clearing the storage.
Note: Refer to the NissanConnectSM with Navigation (for Maxima and Murano) Owner's Manual for iPod® compatibility specifications.
