OPENING OR CLOSING THE MOTION-ACTIVATED LIFTGATE

2. Kick your foot under the rear bumper area, then immediately return to a standing position.

3. After your kicking motion is completed, step back.

BATTERY DISCHARGE PROTECTION

To reduce parasitic draw, the motion-activated sensors are disabled when the vehicle liftgate is left open for 12 hours or more. This does not mean the sensor has failed. If this condition occurs, manually close the liftgate to the fully closed position to awaken the motion-activated sensor.

COMPONENTS

The components for this system are:

The motion-activated back door sensors (upper and lower) and motion-activated back door control module are installed in the rear fascia.

All of the components for the power liftgate are used to open and close the liftgate. The only new parts for this system are the motion-activated sensors and the motion-activated back door control unit. The motion-activated back door control unit sends a Local Interconnect Network (LIN) signal to the Automatic Back Door Control Unit to initiate an opening or closing sequence.

NOTE: Components all come in one assembly for service. Parts cannot be replaced individually.

REPLACEMENT SERVICE

If you replace the liftgate assembly or the automatic back door control module, reset the calibration using WORK SUPPORT in CONSULT-III plus.

VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A TRAILER HITCH

If a Nissan genuine accessory trailer hitch is installed on a vehicle equipped with the motion-activated liftgate, the motion-activated sensors must be replaced with ones designed to operate with the trailer hitch.
