ON THE COVER
The 2014 GT-R
The latest version of Nissan’s innovative sports car features a new premium Interior along with engine and chassis refinements. The relentless ongoing development of the GT-R has been driven by the fact that the GT-R competes in a rarified supercar segment against vehicles costing more than twice as much. The performance enhancements for 2014 keep the GT-R on the leading edge of international sports car design, technology and performance.
The 2014 model release follows a major change to GT-R’s renowned engine for the 2013 model year which included improving intake efficiency, reducing airflow resistance, and improving exhaust emissions efficiency. A 15-horsepower increase to 545 hp (along with a 15 lb-ft increase in torque to 463 lb-ft) were achieved. For the 2014 model year the development of the GT-R engine continues. The GT-R’s advanced VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 engine features new high-output injectors that more precisely control fuel injection for enhanced torque response, improving throttle and acceleration feel at mid- and high-rpm ranges. A new specially designed oil pan baffle plate has been added to stabilize oil behavior and oil pressure under high performance driving conditions. For the 2014 model year the suspension has also been refined with retuned bushings, springs and shock absorbers, and a new anti-roll bar.
