Front row, leather-appointed seats may be equipped with heat and ventilation. The front seat heaters are located inside the seat cushions and seatbacks and operate via seat switches located on the console. The 2nd row seats may be equipped with optional rear seat heaters. The switches are located on the rear of the front center console and can be operated independently of each other and provide low (Lo) and high (Hi) settings.
Climate-controlled Seat System
The climate-controlled seat warms up or cools down by blowing warm or cool air from under the surface of the seat. The climate-controlled seat system consists of the climate-controlled seat control unit, and the thermal electric devices in the driver and front passenger seatbacks and under the seats. The climate control blower mounted to the bottom of the seats sends heated or cooled air flow to adjust the seat temperature.
Seat Cushion and Seatback Temperature Adjustment
A thermal electric device (TED) is installed in each seat cushion and seatback.
The thermal electric device (TED) is a heat exchanger that has a function to heat or cool the air flow from the climate-controlled seat blower motor. By changing the direction of the current from the power supply, the device takes or gives heat and adjusts the heat exchange process depending on voltage.
NOTE: The climate-controlled seat blower motor maintains low speed for approximately 60 seconds after turning the climate-controlled seat switch off.
Climate-controlled Seat System Diagram
The thermal electric device has a dual-climate function that allows one side to operate at a high temperature and the other to operate at a low temperature simultaneously. Before performing any work on the front seat, always turn OFF the heated seat switch and check that the thermal electric device is cold.
