The headlamp design on the new Murano® integrates with the aerodynamic profile as a dramatic part of the overall design.

STANDARD HEADLAMP SYSTEM

The standard headlamp system includes daytime running lights and automatic ON/OFF headlamps. These standard headlamps use a halogen bulb for low and high beams and a light pipe for daytime running lights. Turn signals are a standard bulb as well.

LED HEADLIGHTS

The advanced lighting system for the 2015 Murano Platinum models features LED headlights that provide excellent efficiency and durability (versus halogen and xenon lights). Platinum models feature LED lighting for the low and high beams. Utilization of LEDs re quired extensive tuning to refine the shape and light intensity. The boomerang-shaped, high efficiency headlamps create a light pattern that replicates natural daylight.

REAR LED LIGHTING

Rear LED lighting is standard on all Muranos. Three LEDs are used for each stop lamp. An LED with a light pipe is used for each tail lamp. Turn signals and the back-up lamp are a standard bulb.

The design of the standard LED taillights had to be balanced with the required crossover utility with the final shape seamlessly integrated into the rear glass, conveying a high-tech quality.

LED HEADLAMP CONTROL MODULE

The LED headlamp control module is integrated into the front combination lamp and turns the LED headlamp ON according to the request from the IPDM E/R.

AUTO LIGHT SYSTEM

The auto light system has the auto light function and delay timer function. The auto light feature utilizes the BCM to detect the combination switch (lighting and turn signal switch) condition with the combination switch (lighting and turn signal switch) reading function. The BCM supplies voltage to the optical sensor when the ignition switch is turned to ON or ACC. The optical sensor converts outside brightness (lux) to voltage and transmits the optical sensor signal to the BCM. The BCM judges the outside brightness from the optical sensor signal and determines the ON/OFF condition of the exterior lamp and each illumination accordingly. The BCM then transmits each request signal to the IPDM E/R and combination meter via CAN communication according to the ON/OFF condition of the auto light function.

NOTE: The ON/OFF timing differs based on the sensitivity from the setting. The setting can be adjusted with CONSULT using C-III plus.

AUTO LIGHT ADJUSTMENT SYSTEM

The auto light adjustment system automatically dims/brightens the display, according to the brightness outside the vehicle, when the lighting switch 1ST, lighting switch 2ND or lighting switch AUTO is operated.
