THE 2015 MURANO can be equipped with an auto PBD liftgate that can be controlled with a variety of locking/opening functions. Also, a new version of CONSULT C-III plus has been released that supports additional DTCs to help the Dealer diagnose the components of the PBD system. (Version 43.1 and above provide visibility to the individual spindle encoders and allow for B2426 and B2427 to be set in the event of an issue. Refer to the Service Manual for additional details on these DTCs.)

The auto back door can be opened by the automatic back door switch on the instrument panel, the back door open switch and the Intelligent Key. The following information describes some operating functions of the Power Back Door (PBD) of which you should be aware to help reduce unnecessary repairs.

AUTO BACK DOOR STOP POSITION SETTING >

Murano Back Door.jpg

THE POWER BACK DOOR automatically moves from the fully closed position to the fully open position unless the back door is set to open to a specific height. The back door stop position setting is adjusted by performing the following procedure:

1. Open the auto power back door using the back door open switch or the back door open button on the Intelligent Key.

2. Pull the back door down to the desired stop position and hold it there. (The back door will have some resistance when being manually adjusted.)

3. While holding the back door in position, press and hold the back door close switch located on the liftgate for approximately 5 seconds or until two beeps are heard.

The auto back door will then open to the selected stop position setting. To change the position of the liftgate, repeat steps 1-3 for setting the position of the liftgate.

Note: Also keep in mind that when battery voltage is lower than approximately 11 V, the power back door may not operate after automatic return.

AUTOMATIC BACK DOOR MAIN SWITCH >

WHEN THE AUTOMATIC BACK DOOR main switch (located inside the lockable glove box) is in the OFF position, the power to some PBD functions will be canceled. If the automatic back door main switch is in the OFF position, the power function of the Automatic back door switch (on the instrument panel), the back door open switch (on the outside of the hatch) and the back door close switch (on the edge of the rear hatch) is turned OFF. Power function is available and will still operate from the intelligent key button.

AUTO BACK DOOR SYSTEM BATTERY POWER SAVING >

Murano Back Door.jpg

THE VEHICLE GOES INTO POWER SAVING MODE if the auto back door is left open for a long time (approximately 12 hours). This is to prevent depletion of the battery power. The Auto Back Door System goes into a power saving mode and automatically cuts the power supply of the auto back door. When the power to the auto back door is cut off and you want to open the auto back door, press the back door open switch and manually lift up on the back door. After that, the automatic back door must be closed manually in order to reset the power saving mode timer and restore automatic back door operation.

POWER SAVING MODE NOTE Once the door is opened and closed manually, full system functionality will be restored.
