Puller Tips
Use the Essential Tool Fuel Injector Puller (J-54402) to remove and install the fuel injectors from the 2016 TITAN XD Diesel without causing damage. Refer to the ESM for fuel injector removal and installation instructions.
NOTE:
Before installing fuel injectors:
- If an injector is removed, make sure it is reinstalled in the same cylinder.
- If a new injector is installed, the trim code on the new injector must be matched to the cylinder within the ECM using CONSULT-III plus.
- Perform a resistance measurement on the injector before installation to verify it is within the specified values.
- Install a new flat sealing washer and a new sealing O-ring anytime an injector is installed or reinstalled.
- Left-bank injectors: Install the injectors with their electrical connectors facing the back of the engine.
- Right bank injectors: Install the injectors with their electrical connectors facing the front of the engine.
Injector Bore Brush (J-54428)
Use the injector bore brush (J-54428) to clean carbon buildup from the cylinder head injector bores where the injector will be installed, and then remove any debris.
