TITAN XD DIESEL – CYLINDER CUT OUT TEST
The TITAN XD diesel cylinder cutout test is used to help troubleshoot cylinder misfires.
- The cylinder cutout test allows you to disable one or more cylinders of your choosing at idle.
- The CONSULT-III plus will display lower rpm values while the cylinder is disabled.
If all cylinders are firing well, you will notice a large difference in the engine smoothness when you cutout one of
If a cylinder is not firing well, and you cutout that cylinder, it will not make much difference in how the engine is running.
You will then know that the trouble is with that particular cylinder.
NOTE:
The most probable cause of a cylinder misfire in a diesel engine is a malfunctioning injector.
Cylinder Cutout Test
Before starting the cylinder cutout test, turn off the heater and air conditioning system. This test is performed with the engine at idle.
1. Connect and start up the CONSULT – III plus.
2. Check for DTCs and correct them if found.
3. Choose ENGINE > Active Test.
4. Select Cylinder Cutout Test.
5. Scroll to, and choose the monitor items of your choice. Suggested selections: Cylinder Cutout Test Status Engine Speed
6. When you are ready to start the test, press the Start button.
7. Now, choose which cylinder you wish to cutout and press that cylinder number on the right. The number turns red after pressed. it is pressed.
8. After choosing the cylinder, check the ENGINE SPEED for reference and press the Test Start key. The Cylinder cutout status changes to ACTIVE. Power is suspended from that specific injector.
9. Press the RESET key to stop the cylinder cutout. cylinder cutout test status changes to ACTIVE. Power is suspended from that specific injector.
10. Now choose a different cylinder and repeat this process until you can determine if the cylinders are all firing equally.
