The light sensor in the combination meter automatically controls the brightness of the instrument panel. In daylight, the displays in the combination meter are not illuminated. The luminescence level of the lighting of the combination meter can be manually adjusted using the brightness control knob.

System Operation
- The instrument brightness activates by turning on the position lights or ignition switch.
- The BCM sends the position lights actuation status over the CAN line to the combination meter. The electronic ignition switch control unit sends the ignition switch ON status over the CAN line to the combination meter. The combination meter receives these signals and switches on illumination.
- Brightness adjusts automatically to suit the lighting conditions in the vehicle interior using a phototransistor (ambient light sensor) integrated into the combination meter.
